Shipping containers have a wide variety of uses in a number of industries. In the bar and restaurant industry, modified repurposed containers have become an excellent way for businesses to add a unique component to their company in a sustainable and economical manner.
Even outdoor recreation companies have benefited from the multi-purpose uses that converted containers provide. One of Advantage Structures’ biggest-ever projects was working with The Forge Lemont Quarries on a cost-effective and contemporary solution for the adventure park’s building infrastructure and facilities.
The Forge is one of America’s largest outdoor recreational and adventure parks. The park features zip lines, climbing walls and towers, axe throwing, archery, fishing, kayaking and canoeing, BMX & mountain biking, hiking trails, and more. The park is also an event venue that hosts concerts, summer camps and other festivals and events. Additionally, the Forge has multiple dining areas and a beer garden for guests to relax and recharge.
Advantage was tasked with performing modifications on 14 shipping containers, which were used as the park’s facilities. This includes restrooms, dining areas, ticket booths, rental stations for harnesses, bikes, and kayaks, outdoor bar areas and their music & events stage as well.
Working in collaboration with a general contractor who provided the design blueprints, Advantage converted five new 20’ shipping containers and nine new 40’ shipping containers, all of which were used for the applications laid out above. During this six-month project, Advantage Structures made all of the necessary cuts to the 14 containers, and installed all of the doors, windows, studding and insulation. We also performed the electrical work, in addition to the interior and exterior paint work. Some on-site installation work was required, including welding the seams on the 16’ wide, 40’ long stage containers.
